Pleased as punch to announce my short story Platform Driven was awarded first place in the PNWA Literary Contest. It was a fun night with writer friends at the awards dinner and after party.

What's Platform Driven about? The quippy summary : A millennial influencer joins the Old Girls Club.

Not my usual genre, I think the best description would be a comedic horror parable, and I am so pleased that people seem to enjoy its creepy delights. I think I'll be reading it at the Tipsy Typers Spooky Grown-Up Story Time next week. I hope to report soon on where YOU can read it soon. Until then, remember not to let ambition blind you and listen to that voice inside you when it whispers "Get out, now!"

The Tipsy Typers had so much fun at our Write-O-Rama event in March--we're doing it again. This special events combines a social-mixer with a write-in for a rich afternoon of making friends and making progress on your WIP. One participant described it as "a party where I could go write in the corner and not feel rude"!

Our goal is to help take some of the loneliness out of our chosen field by connecting writers with writers. Fostering new writing club-in-a-pubs would be a dream come true for us and we'd be happy to share our secrets to making managing a club easy and fun.

Luther's Table, a non-profit event venue in Renton, WA is our own private pub for the afternoon. Included in the ticket prices is a smorgasbord of snacks for scribes and bottled water. You can also purchase beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages from LT's friendly bartender. While we may have "tipsy" in our title, we've got work to do, drinks are like adverbs--use them wisely. We also have many non-drinking members/attendees and the event is for writers 18 and older, so everyone should feel welcome.

We hope to see you there. Tickets at www.tipsytypers.com.

The Tipsy Typers brought poetry to the streets on August 31st as part of the Experience Renton Block Party.

Inspired by the wonderful blackout poetry books by Tipsy Typer member, Stacia Leigh,

the Tipsy Typers hosted a booth where party goers could make and take their own poetry. Poets of all ages created unique pieces combining art and words.

In addition to our booth, we partnered with Drum Roll Wine to bring our popular Grown-Up Storytime event and paired with their fabulous wines.

We'll be teaming with Drum Roll again in February for a Grown-Up Storytime Romance Edition. (Stay tuned!)

We loved getting out and meeting our neighbors--Renton is a wonderful place to call home.
